Storm-Proofing
In the garden: if you can count it, & you like it, put it aside.
Don't wait until aftermath to count in various places!
Imagine potential windcatch & prevent windsweep!
Tussle & tug, until its neat & snug.
Object & Feature - eyeball, countable, observable, checking:
Per each countable object: observe, count, replace, retie:
Check stacks, bags, bins, unfill watering cans, lie ornaments,
gather installations, retie ropes or lines, knots.
Per each observable feature: Loose, frayed-ended, light or large objects:
Cushion, conceal, camouflage, displace, make distance:
Special attention to what's made of: glass, clay, stone, wood, etc.:
Proximate & potentially interacting items:
Metal against glass: exploit distance.
Glass against stone: exploit concealment.
Clay against clay: avoid with cushion between.
The 'Gus' Method:
Ask yourself is each item potentially: 'windswept' or 'structural'?
Is it safe from 'Gus', as if, in a wind-tunnel (Method):
The eye misguides, allow 'tussle & tug' to guide instead!
Help settle items to shed or lie flat, until: neat & tidy, snug & secure, well-structured.
Least & Most:
Baton down hatches, zip all flaps upon open exposures.
Gather candles, lights, gnomes, fairies, etc. into a bucket,
Rather than hope 'the lot' don't upturn, make certain of 'the bucket' instead,
The least 'windsweep' & most 'structural' - the most likely to pass the storm!
